Tourrettes-sur-Loup has bars, restaurants, two boulangerie/patisseries, two greengrocers, two butchers, wine/spirits shop, newspaper shop with international selection of papers and numerous shops for artisanal pottery, paintings and sculpture. A market on Wednesday morning offers an array of fruits/vegetables/flowers, clothing, spices, art supplies and household goods.

5 km to the southeast is St. Paul de Vence, arguably the most famous walled medieval town in France and the third most visited tourist destination.

Equally famous is its restaurant/inn The Colombe d'Or founded by Paul Roux in 1930, whose patrons and habitués included some of the most renowned artists of the 20th century.

Roux accepted works of art in exchange for meals and thus began a world-class art collection including Picasso, Braque, Leger, Delaunay, Calder, Arman, Miro, Chagall, Bonnard and Picabia. The works of art rotate on the walls of the restaurant.

These paintings and a permanent installation of sculpture and mosaics in the garden make it possible to have a memorable meal and museum visit at the same time.

Also in St. Paul just outside the ramparts is the Fondation Maeght, home to another distinguished collection of 20th century art, traveling exhibitions, outdoor sculpture and a garden presided over by Joan Miro's monumental sculpture. Artisits whose work is on display also include: Bonnard, Braque, Calder, Chagall, Giacometti, Léger, Miró...

Just up the hill from St. Paul is the charming town of Vence with its own medieval history, excellent restaurants, outdoor cafes, boulangeries, patisseries, food shops, butchers, fish mongers, art galleries and museums, not least of which is the Matisse Chapel. During the summer season Vence hosts Nuits de Sud, one of the many jazz/music festivals in the region.

Sandy beaches can be found west of Cap d'Antibes (15 km). A list of recommended private beaches are found in the handbook of the villa as are details about tennis, skiing, windsurfing, fitness, hiking, golf and activities nearby for children.

Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Cap Ferrat, Monte Carlo and the Italian border are all less than a 60 minute drive from La Gourrette.
